My experience with my YANK converter is unless I hook up, my MPH sucks. If I spin off the line, my MPH will be like 105-107. If I cut a 1.7 it goes up but only when I cut my normal 1.6's will my MPH be the 110 it normally is. I guess if I f*ck up my launch I should blame it on yank for not having an efficient converter, thus my mph being low

That's not entirely accurate. If I badly F-up a launch then yes I agree that my MPH goes down too. But my best trap speed always comes from a little spinning on the launch. When I dead hook and nail a low 1.7 60' I trap 107-108. When I spin a little and hit a 1.8-2.0 60' I trap 109-110. But if I completly botch the launch and hit a horrible 2.2+ 60' then I trap 105-106. Just look at the times in my sig. Both runs were on the same night so temp was not a factor. I wish I could trap 110 when I hook up good but unfortunately my mph goes down a little when I dead hook.

From everything I have read in the drag racing sections of several f-body sites (including this one) my mph results are normal for a stalled auto.

It's pretty much common knowledge that Yanks effiency is a little higher then that of the "bang for the buck" competitors like TCI, Fuddle and Midwest so I wouldn't be surprised if my trap speed went up by 1-2 mph if I were to switch to a Yank SS3600 for example. But I personally don't care about the trap speed that much. I flash to 3500, can hit low 1.7's on 245 Nittos and my lock up is right on at 40 mph. I'll probably run a Yank eventually but for now I live by the philosophy:

It aint broke so I aint fixn it

Pretty much no higher stall after market torque converter will have as good efficency as the stocker. Yank has some good info about it on their website.

Should have got a fuddle 4000

Last year on old worn out nittos....I cut 1.91 60`

Changed nothing besides adding a 4000 stall...same old nittos on some old rims...1.71 off a 1000rpm launch....mph was 1-2mph higher then before....in the 1/8th mile...and it was a shitty pass hitting the limiter.

Man sorry to hear that. My bolt on car went 7.6 and cut a 1.61 60' with a yank 4400 with same tires and wheels. No spin, air pressure was at 13

I'll add my .02 here...If you are serious about hooking ditch the 17" 315s and put on some 16x8 stockers with 255 50 R16 ET Drag Radials...or at least borrow a set from someone...The added sidewall will really help you.. I struggled with 17s for a long time before seeing the light and going with 16s ...now with 15s I can get a lil air from the left front on the street...

Also, just try to flash it from idle...Thats what I did to get 1.55s out of the lil 255s...Every converter likes different launch techniques...Swap converters if you want, but seriously look into the 255 M/T Radials..work smart not hard...

So how can you say the converter is the problem?

I've never heard of Fuddle. I'd only go with Yank, Vigilante, or Pro-Torque.
