Default What to do about 3rd gear hesitation???

What do you guys have to do to your car to get the 2nd to 3rd shift smoother and quicker. In the next week or so Im switching to 3:73s and trans go shift kit with probably a 3600 stall2.2str then Im going to get a tune on the car(maybe cam, have to see my money situation). Will these mods with a tune help eliminate the little hesitation?(The reason I ask is I just raced an 03 Cobra from about a 30mph roll, first race sense headers,LS6 intake,Port TB, and I was hanging in there with him till the 3rd gear shift and it was over)

Have torque management deleted when it is tuned...everything else will add up to lightning shifts and awesome acceleration.

okay, here's the thing. torque management was put on to electronically reduce the amount of torque the engine puts on the transmission during shifts. the whole reason of torque management is to lengthen the life of the transmission by electronically "taking your foot off the gas" during shifts, or so to speak.

now, if you took off torque management, understandably your shifts would be better...but wouldn't it seriously reduce the life of your transmission? torque management reduces a percentage of your torque during shifts, so if it reduces 15% of the torque and you are making 400hp at the flywheel (which is easy to do), that's another 60 hp beating on your tranny during each shift. does anyone think maybe this is why a 4L60E can't hold up with high horsepower applications? because you're adding serious amounts of torque to the tranny when it shifts?

basically, how much does torque management reduce the life of your trans?

Have your rev limiter bumped up a few hundred RPM

My stock 4L60E shifts fine. You can tune line pressure and shifts points.

If you get the shift time down you will find the TM
less objectionable. You can also reduce it with some
finesse and keep "just enough" torque through the
shifts if you want to. But at the bottom of it all could
still be basic mechanical wear / damage issues; have
to see, once you get the control action settled. Also
note that things that mess around the airflow, "load"
readings will soften up the shifting and hurt you in
the end.
