Default Who Is Running A Vacuum Modulated 4L60E

If you are running a vacuum modulated 4l60E, what changes did you have to make to the PCM programming if any? This will be a FLT tranny if it matters.

I've been running one for about 2 months now and I love it! I had to delete 1 code, but I can't remember which one off hand. I'm at work right now, but when I get home I'll check my scanner and post it up. As far as I know none of the tables need to be changed because a resistor is soldered into one of the circuits to trick the PCM into thinking that it's still controlling line pressure. I've been told that you shouldn't throw a code, but I did, so I deleted it. No big deal. Everything's working fine!

I have a vacuum modulated 4L60E.

Nothing needs to be done to the computer.

More than likely if you set a code it was for the epc solenoid. In the FLT vac mod unit's we don't use that resistor because it some times sets that code. We prefer to modify the transgo vac-mod kit a little bit.

Vince, can you tell me what tables in the cal will no longer have any effect on how the transmission operates then? What about force motor tables, shift time tables, shift pressure, WOT shift RPM and MPH? I'm going to be installing a cam and tweaking the PCM on this car that is getting one of your transmissions installed this week. (Scott)

I would say the force motor tables. The force motor is what controls line pressure. The force motor is commonly called an epc(electronic pressure control solenoid). I'm not sure what shift pressure tables are but kinda sounds like the same thing. I would ask your tuner. Basically with the vac-mod you will no longer be able to control the transmission line pressure. This will no longer be controled by the epc but will be regulated by the vac-mod. You will be able to control when it shifts and locks up through the tune. Does this make sense?

No, it only affects line pressure. Like was said it removes the computers ability to control the line pressure and regulates itself with vacuum.

Vacuum mod here. No changes done to my computer. Think of it like the old HEI timing, when going WOT it will give you a higher timing advance. In this case, it just increases the Tranny fluid pressure.

That's what I have, and that's what Greasy Mech in San Antonio uses.

I know he's talked to a few other builders on here and that's what they use as well. (So I can vouch for 3 shops on LS1Tech that use them, but they all modify them, a little bit. )
