Stalled Guys from a roll
Well in weeks my new cam and 3600 Vig stall is going in. I think its been pretty much stated that installing a stall makes the car a beast from the line. But what about from a roll. Does that odd 30-50mph no power area still exist? Also will I notice a big difference if I run someone from a roll, Supra racing for example?
Here's what will be done to the car:
LT's
SLP Airbox
HP Tuners
3" ORY w/ cut-out
cat-back
3600 stall w/ cooler
cam 224/228 .585/.585 114
Any ideas on what it may run, i say 12.5ish.
Who with similar setups are on stock trany, and rear. I won't be making alot of track passes, mostly easy street driving on street tires. I'm just a little nervious about the trany has approx 35K on it.

My friends car w/ 224/224 .581/,581 112 w/ a 3800 stall and 4.10 gears with street tires is worthless, you spin anywhere under 45 if you get on it. The converter works the same off the line as for a roll. It eliminates the lower rpm lag. His car when you nail it anytime it shoots to 4000rpms instantly making it go. Thats why its important to match your converter to your cam.

I have a Yank SS3600.

Yank ST3500 here......amazing from a roll. RPM's flash immediately to 4K+ and it pulls sooooo hard. I would think with the bolt-ons and stall/cam you might see high 11's. check my setup and results in sig. the car pulls REAL hard from a 30 roll, without m/t drag radials it will send the tires up in smoke. your will notice gains from the stall from 0-~60 mph, as you approach 60 mph the stall effects diminish. i can put a hurtin' on some bigger hp cars from a ~10 roll with a hook.
my trans has 60k on it, 15 of which had the stall, tires, and transgo shiftkit - it is holding up fine thus far.
i ran consistent 12.3s before the tune, and i will be installing an underdrive pulley next weekend. i am looking for 12.0s/11.9s in the fall with good weather. i think your setup will easily snag 11.8s on a tire.

i have a similar set up w tci3500 stall that jumps to 5100 rpm when i stab it from a roll. with street tires i burn through all the gears, with my MT DRs on the street i only burn through first two. At the track i run consistant 12.2s all day long(that includes driving to and from the track)
IN two words: New Tires!!!!!!!!!!

a decently sized converter will help you from a roll... since youll be able to remain in a higher gear (for example 3rd) but still be able to flash the converter to a higher speed

My mods and times are in my sig, almost identical to what you'll be doing.
Well not to argue with the above post,BUT.
I had a Vig 3600 and it DID stall closer to 4200 on a stock internal full weight car,BUT, i had plenty of good times on the street. Traction is not that bad, even with stock F1 tires. Nitto's made things real nice.
Now when i switched to the SS4000 traction was no where to be found with stock suspension in MY car.
The PT4000 and Nitto's is a PERFECT street set-up for ME.
And you really should do a lot better than 12.5's.
I run real low 12's with stock internals(no cam upgrade),bolt ons,and Nitto's.
That is motor only times-the Nitrous puts me in direct violation of NO rollbar time slips
i guess you will be in the 11.8 area with a good 60ft (1.6 or better)
Good and have fun.

It is amazing how much the stall helps. My first stall was a TCI SSF 3500, and it knocked 6 tenths off my 1/4 time. I no longer was scared to race m6's from a roll. I now have a yank ss4000, and it is even better, just takes awhile to get use to.
Burning tires through all gears......running 11's easily....hell i must have missed somethin...my car with a 3600 fuddle and 413 locked rwhp wont spin the nittos in first with a 20mph roll or even get out of low 12's.....
