A lot of my friends go to the track with their 5 and 6 speeds and then can't figure out why their cars run slower than what they would expect. They usually blame it on the track. Then I go up and shine like a star in the auto and bitz down the track turning decent numbers. I always get, why's it so consistant? Man that thing runs good. I say, no it's an automatic and are more sutiable for these kinds of driving conditions. I would stick with a stalled auto if thats what the car originally had.

I was about to ask this same question. I am starting to get real tired of my auto, yeah it is real consistant and all at the track but like stated before, the fun factor just isnt there. Stalls i heard make a huge difference but hurt gas mileage.

Where can you get a whole six speed conversion and how much do they cost?
also what is rmvb?

Well before mine went in I got 17mpg, and after I still got 17mpg, so I don't think that is always true.

I own an A4 2002 Z28. But for the past two weeks my dad is letting me drive his 2001 WS6 M6. The TA is much funner to drive.

But this may be because Im not used to it. This Saturday we'll see if I have the same opinion when we finish the work on my Z28....

It is the RPM increase due to the driver's habits which decreases fuel econ not the converter.

Ah yes., this debate. One it comes down to a matter of preferance. Two if you are going to make power and run at the track an auto is the way to go. I am currently doing a TH400 swap. I swore I would never get rid of my 6spd. **** that 6spd is all I can say. I blew through clutch after clutch (5 in 6 months).
There is a reason dragracers go auto. I was a stubborn bastage and learned the hard way. I even went solid brass clutch and that bitch couldnt take it. Save yourself some frustration and do the swap. There are plenty of guys out there that would be willing to trade you straight up. I did.

A wise man learns from his mistakes. A wiser man learns from anothers mistakes.lol Good luck.

i voted auto. most of the time i like my auto, especially with my work commute, but every now and then i long for a 6600rpm clutch dump. i could go for one of them right now

A stall with a good STR will fix that for you. Just hammer it from a stop and it will leave a smile on your face from ear to ear.

im debating the same thing right now. its nice being able to cruise in traffic with the auto, but there is something about shiftin the gears that i like. maybe once i get my stall, that will change my mind, but i doubt it.

M6 seems to be a pain in the ***. making sure the slave is bled right, breaking rear ends, no traction on the street off the line. I rebuilt my M6 and it works good but im now debating on going auto. you need 4.10 gears w/ a M6, but i blew those up and put in 3.23s....horrible. Now the clutch slips launching it on slicks at the track.
Also if your in the city and lots of stop-n-go traffic, an M6 gets old real fast.
If you drive long distances to work everyday on the interstate, the M6 would be good.

I voted M6, only because of the fun factor on the street. An auto does'nt compare.

But for the track, it's a hole other deal.

I'm looking into going auto MVB for next year.
