no we havent darren lol...yea i see all of ur points but it all depends on combination and type of racing etc. when cars are not at the huge power levels some pple say stick is the way to go b/c it will be faster on the street MOST of the time. but its not neccessarily true when you get into it seriously with 9 and 10 second cars OR faster, you will notice that a good portion of them will runs auto trannies (th400 for example ive seen used a billion times in 1000hp+ supras and others) and no **** all of them FLY because they have the power to push that kind of gearing (drag=auto with stall, road course=6 speed would be more suitable for "gear selection" and gearing even tho i have seen some autos kick *** in autoX with manual valvebodies etc)

Well, it looks like auto wins over M6 by almost exactly a 2:1 margin.

I'd say if you are going to drag race the car, this poll just gave you the answer.

I have to say in all fairness that the 2:1 margin is only because this poll was asked in the automatic transmission section. Ask this same question in the manual transmission section and the 2:1 margin will likely swing the other way.

I don't think there is a manual valve body conversion for the 4L60E but I'm not 100% on that. This is something you get when you order a TH350 or TH400 to replace the 4L60E. I think the 4L80E also has the option to be fully automatic or manual valve body (or reverse manual valve body).

Everyone that I know that has RMVB got it (along with a trans brake) when they switched to a TH400. They just bough the transmission with it equipped that way from Rossler, FLP or whoever.

Auto 4tw! My reason? Well, ever since I have an auto, I get to fondle my wife's ***** while driving.

I just read the first page and I think this would be the ONLY reason I would convert to A4 anytime soon.. I could care less about my track times (13.5 @107 with a 2.18 60) and its not because I hate the track.. dont get me wrong. I have a blast (19 passes in one day) its just that the fun factor of m6 vs a4 is so high. Theres nothing like ripping a 1-2 shift and sliding sideways and then hitting that 2-3 shift and chirping them again. I have a lot more flexibility on the highway too. I get 28mpg highway.. and never less than 20mpg per tank (average, even when I go to the track).

That is your opinion and you certainly are entitled to it. But I persoanlly feel like there is nothing quite like having your head snapped back into your seat from hard launch caused by a 2.5 STR torque converter. Then it's just hold the **** on while the shift extension pulls you like a raped ape to the finish line.

I here and read in the forums about people wanting to switch from one to the other either way for the same reasons .
personally I think the automatic is the best choice ,

The only really good advantage is the fuel econ the freeway.
Been shifting for 30 years..will never change to an automatic ,will never get bored...Real Racers shift gears on their own....even cars that had autos before now have an option of shifting....paddle or stick. TO EACH THEIR OWN....if someone gets "BORED" with shifting,...they are nutz.

I've been a long time fan of M6's. There's nothing like shifting a true manual.

But I'm ready for a TH400. On the prowl for one right now. Big stahl, manually shifted.

But I'm only doing this for a couple of years. Just for the soul purpose of drag racing!
Then I'm switching back.

I vote M6 for the fun factor!!!

I am getting a 350/400 soon for drag racing only. it only takes about 45 minutes to get the T56 out so I am just gonna swap them in and out as needed cause I also will be road racing the car too.

I just finished an m6 to a4 conversion. The 4000 yank stall is a blast to drive. The car sounds mean all the time. I still drive it every day. But the longer i drive the auto the more i think of how fun the m6 was. Just like everyone else (drag racing which is my priority now) go auto, fun street car with great gas mileage m6.

I dropped my M6 for an A3, and I don't regret it one bit. I wouldn't switch back, even if someone else paid for it/did the work
