Default vig 3200 question/possible issue

Hey guys,
here is the story
just installed the vig 3200, love it, it's kewl and stuff, but after i installed it threw the SES light (Engine Survice Soon), it was on even if the car was running, untill today, i went to egt some gas, and when i was coming abc home, the car died, i pulled over and started the car up again, gased it, and then somehow the car died again, iw as scared and frustred since it happened to me for the very first time, so i'm not sure what happened and why car died, so, anwyays, I tryed to started the car up again, and it srated just fine and the SES light was gone. I got back home, turned the car off and then turned it abck on in like 30 mins, the ses light was gone and the was working fine.

Afetr i installed the vig 3200 it seems to me like its idling a bit ahrder, like it requires more power to idle, has anyone noticed that ?

Anyhow, has anyone has similar experience with thier cars ? i mean , may be my PCM was learning and then decided to reset itself, that's why my car died ?

Any guesses ? I'm really scared about my car.

Thank you much

first off, you need to learn to spell check.

second- your car will idle lower with the converter, you need to get it programmed to idle higher.

I put a ST3500 in mine

car idled poorer (average was still 550, and standard deviation was 30). I had it die a few times on me in reverse (give it little gas, and when you let off it dies) and a few times in drive (again, little gas).

I raised my idle to 950 and it is fine now <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

disconnect the battery and then reconnect it after about 5 mins and it will take it about 2-3 miles or thereabout, but will re-learn the proper pattern with the upgraded converter. same thing happened with my 3200 and i still have a low idle in reverse and it will at times die after giving it gas and then letting off, but raising the idle through re-programming will correct that. it comes from the IAT counts being bad. good luck with everything though.

Try the idle relearn.

If that doesn't work and it continues to idle low, turn your idle set screw a half turn open or enlarge your TB hole by 1/64".

IAT = Inlet Air Temp
IAC = Idle Air Controller (which effects idle quality).

first reset the PCM, if that doesnt work turn your idle screw in...some say up to 2 turns w/o setting code, I turned mine 1 full turn and fixed problem. You shouldnt have to drill TB without cam. MAKE SURE ALL IS DONE AT NORMAL TEMPS. It will change if you set when cold.

No, no screwdriver to adjust the idle set screw. You'll need a small Allen wrench, and (like mentioned by Ryan) the set screw is UNDER the linkage.

If worse comes to worst, I'll post a pic of where it is located. Let me know...

I had to adjust the idle a few times on my 2001 after my converter was installed, so I know how you feel. When you get the PCM reset and the idle adjusted, your car should idle much better (mine sure does).
