Default $$ to install conv/cooler

Hi guys,

I've asked around a couple shops and they seem to want $450 for the cooler/converter install. Is that a lot? What do other people pay/have paid?

$80 is what my guy charges in Lauderdale for a converter install. $450 is a pathetic rip-off, typical from these idiots at race/tranny shops.. The cooler takes minutes, even for me.

I've seen between $200-300 for converter installs. Definitely do the cooler yourself.

Yeah, I called around to more lesser known shops (surprisingly, they were much more polite and seemed willing to help than better known ones), and got a price of $200 installed for the converter. Seems a lot better than someone who quoted $600 labor

I paid $275 for the converter install, well worth it. For something like that it was much better watching someone else sweat in the heat and bitch when that one bolt was being so difficult then for me to mess with it.

Do the cooler install yourself, I was quoted $100 for it, or $150 dope style, but it's stupidly easy to do yourself.

Don't forget to get the trans tuned (shift points and torque management).

Hmmm don't know about that, it's still a 4L60E. You still need to get the shift points tuned anyways.

I've never looked into LT1 transmissions, I'm guessing that the gearing inside is all different. I have to look into it.

Don't get dad new socks or a grill brush this year.
