Default 3500 converter?

Got a 00 z28 a4 DD with full exhaust and soon to be ftra with slp air box. Lookin into stalls but I want one that will work with a TR230 cam for a future mod. Is a 3000 to small? Should I go with say a TCI 3500 cas they are at texas speed for 500 (best price ive found for a 3500) or should I go for even higher than that. Definitely not looking into nitrous no way.

All I hear are complaints about TCI. I went with a Vigilante. And people seem to love Yank, you get what you pay for. Not sure about the stall, but I went with a 3600 for street use and it doesnt feel too big at all. Dunno how it would be with a cam though, but I dont think it would be too big....

I believe the rule of thumb with stalls and cams is ~3500 with a 224 cam, and ~4000 with a 230 cam. Hopefully someone else can chime in and give more details, but I want the MS3 cam so I am having my Yank 3500 restalled to 4000. Anything less than a 4000 stall with a MS3 leaves a lot on the table. A good cam choice for a 3500 stall is a TR 224. Very common cam, but very good power. 3500 is fine for a DD. Like I said, I am going up to 4000 with my DD.

yea! def. wanna do a tranny cooler with a stall converter. It will no doubt produce more heat. Now if i were you id go with nothing no smaller than say 3600 with that cam(TR230). Look into a Fuddle tc -----------> Sponsor or vigilante/yank converters are ur more top of the line. I love my SuperYank3500. It will absolutely give life to your ride. Good Luck!!

From my experience and this might help you out.I have a custom comp cam 228/236,588/578 114 and some head work with around 440 rwhp.I had a 4000 stall but it was way to much for the street for me at least.I just had a midwest 3400 installed and I love it for me its just right on and you still notice you have a stall and the midwest seem to be real good so far in my car.I also have a 12bolt and 3.73 and it pulls nice.
