Default RAM 980 Installed!

First impressions:

Very nice. 30 miles on it, so I can't rip on it yet but it GRABS. Have to be around 1200 in 1st to get moving, then it hits.

Adjustable master - I'm about an inch off the floor, very low. Feels good, may have the shop readjust Monday after putting a few miles on. I recall reading to adjust it once the tranny is up to temp.

New slave - quick question. With the McLeod adjustable came instructions for taking .800 off the spring on the slave. I've read alot on this board and never saw that; has anyone done that? What does it do, make up for the adjustable? We did it; it's roughly a little less than an inch off the spring.

Other than that the pedal is MUCH heavier; will this go away with miles? 1st gear is hard to get in ( just notchy ) but the other gears feel fine. Reverse I HAVE to hit 5th before putting it in reverse, but then it goes right in.

The best part - everything installed, did the drill out mod, extra 3 holes in the RAM PP ( drill out slightly ) all for $275.00.

If anyone needs a shop near Cleveland, these guys did good. I got to help as well and stayed the whole time. I thought the price was real decent; I had 3 other quotes near $500!!

One last thing. Just started as I was coming home ( last 5 miles of 30 on the clutch ). While clutch is on the floor, and car is in 1st gear but my foot is on the brake, I had slight shudders, almost like chatter. Any ideas?

Thanks!!

With the clutch pedal pressed in, you should have ZERO vibrations/noises/etc coming from the clutch. Something in your brakes maybe..

You need to make your master rod longer. Its not pushing the pressure plate in far enough. This is bad for the tranny so I would do this right away.
Pedal pressure will stay strong. But after you drive it for awhile you will get use to it.
My 980 disc is still doing great. A lot of 6000 dumps on 8.5 inch ET Drags with no problems.

Have the release point high or you may melt the clutch to the flywheel

Hey man how's it going Brian?

I went to Brunswick Transmission. 330-225-9110. Awesome shop and work. Ask for Bill Williams.

They did me right, and the price ( IMHO ) was awesome.

Update:

Now that I have 250 miles on the clutch, it is outstanding.

I did adjust the master the day of this post and that cleared up all problems.

I can't wait to get another 150 miles or so and start ripping to see what it can do.

Mike @ Rapid Motorsports did mine along with other mods in sig. Mine as operated flawlessly, enough to smoke my 315s BFGs till I shifted to 3rd, and this was launching off idle with a 2.2 60ft. I launched nice and easy since i didn't have slicks, basically I launched as if there were a cop behind me. On Wed. nights our track does prep at all so traction sucks. I eased into the throttle, just past the 60ft I stomped it and the 315s broke loose, I speed shifted and smoked through 2nd and speed shifted to 3rd; at that point it began walking to the right a bit and finally caught= 13.05@111mph, LoL!!! This clutch is a good one!

Hey Viper, its me 99MONGOOSE, aka 99ScorpionSS. Yes it was at Thompson. If you are interested we have a local car club called Scorpion Racing that I and my Fiance' are the Presidents of. She has the 2000 WS6 in my Sig. We have several cars in the group and are still growing. We gather at Annibelles Diner in Mentor on weekends. We have a LT4 Vette with H/C that turns 12s but is mainly used for autoX, and 2 Stangs with N20. These are just a few. You will know our cars by the scorpion on the rear windows and the Scorpion Racing lettering. We let anything in the group as long as you turn at least 14.5, driver at least 18 years old and the car looks good. I know guys 14.5 is slow as hell, but not everyone has money for newer model sports cars and stuff. We are considering changing the required time to 14.0 next year, but we just hang out and go to tracks and such. We help each other do mods too, so its all good. Our local street racing scene is no where near Houston but there are some cool cars up here in Ohio.

Sweet, I may have to make a trip out Saturday. What time do you guys show up? You had said in February you were going to send info on the group but I never got anything.

New update:

375 miles, better every minute. Chatter in 1st and reverse if you don't give it enough gas. ESPECIALLY with the T2R; if my wheels are turned and I'm trying to take off and don't give it enuf gas, the car shudders and the T2R groans trying to give traction.

I pretty much have to launch around 1200rpm.

Back to one of my original questions:

"New slave - quick question. With the McLeod adjustable came instructions for taking .800 off the spring on the slave. I've read alot on this board and never saw that; has anyone done that? What does it do, make up for the adjustable? We did it; it's roughly a little less than an inch off the spring."

Anyone?

Final update:

Car now burns rubber in 4 gears. This is amazing driving a car with a real clutch in it.

On the highway, if I drop it in 3rd at 70mph and nail it, the back end gets loose and when I hit 4th gear it chirps them.

NICE clutch, I recommend it.
