Default TH400 overdirve?

Hey guys,
Does anyone have a TH400/TH350 with an electronic overdrive or gear vender for a 4th gear, for freeway driving/just cruising? With 3:73's I need somethin. Thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the gear vendors for those trannies were for all the gears. 1st, 1st w/OD, 2nd etc etc.

Yeah you're both right. The Gear vendor makes the TH400 a 6spd and it's about $2400-2500. I'm just lookin to see if anyone knows anything else to give it some type of overdrive? Thanks

Why not opt for a 4L80, it is just like a TH400 but with OD?

3.73's and a gear vendor will solve your freeway problems and also keep the rpm's where you want them while racing. 3rd over with a GV is about the equivelant of having 2.90 gears if i remember correctly. (I worked at gear vendors for 4 years assembling he new units.)

Same gear ratios.

Over drive is over rated, I run 2.75 gears, I don't need no stinkin overdrive LOL

The gear vendor is kinda like a transfer case. It bolts directly to the back of your 400. It has a set of planets in it to give you the od that you are looking for. I have heard of guys that engage the unit in every gear and then disengage when they shift to the next gear. Kinda of a cool piece IMO. I to have seen the inturnals of this piece and it is very well constructed. I have never heard of someone breaking one if that tells you anything. Vince.

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure they, sell them both. I thought at least. Back when I was looking to get a C6 for my Ford, they had Tranny/GV packages.

I just blew my 4th 4l60E (2 Rock On's) and I am so tired of changing that thing out. Time for a new set up. Does anyone know how strong the Gear Vendor is? Approx. how my hp/tq will it take? Can it be built stronger? I daily drive my car so the OD is nice and I'd like to do this once, so I want the best and strongest set up. Anybody have a testimonial on this set up?
