Question Need to replace transmission...what to get?

I have a 99 TA with 60e. It is slipping bad. I have changed fluid, filter, and used TransX. Stopped slipping for a couple of months. Should I get it rebuilt with stronger parts or replace it with another? And if I replace it with another such as 400, 350, 80e which is the best to go with? I never take it to the track. It is a daily driver. I do a little bit of street racing when the occasion arises. If I replace with one of the mentioned trannys, will they connect to PCM just as factory does?? Need any help or advise I can get.

For a daily driver that doesn't ever go to the track, I would stick with the 4L60e. There are some kits out there you can look into if you want to find the parts yourself. Just make sure it comes with upgraded bands, clutches, a high rev pump, and the springs. Most of them should come with a good shift kit too. Some people will recommend a vacuum modulator. I'm up in the air on this one because I chose not to, and mine is doing great so far.

Presently we only list units that we have aquired and adequate supply of cores for , At this point in time this is not the case with the 4L80E though it may be at some future date .We do not want to end up in a position of having a great demand for a product we cannot deliver ,which happens when you dont have a stable adequate core supply for a certain unit

The level 1 sounds like just what I'm looking for. Does the price include shipping?

What stall would you recommend to maintain as much stock drivability as possible as a daily driver and still have major gains at WOT....have read where anything less than a 3000 is pretty much like stock anyway. Also, I'm not a major knowitall when it comes to stalls anyway, but what exact improvements are made by going from say a stock converter to say a 4000?? I just don't want to buy the wrong one when it's time.

Personally I would stay in the 3000 to 3500 range for a daliy driver both are good all around converters and will deliver good toque gains on launch , I will say though lower stall does equal better gas $$$$ around town ,

In easy terms, it takes away that slow doggy feeling when you take off in your car. A converter basically builds pressure up to a certain point (your choice as to what that point is), so it's like basically adding torque to your car. The higher str it has, the harder it hits when it gets up there. It also helps your car get into a good power band. For instance, if your cam starts making power at say 4500 rpm, then a 4200 stall would be great. For an automatic car, it is the most important thing you can change to make a world of difference in performance. And I think 4000 is a great number if you're putting a decent cam in. Without a cam, 3200 would be just fine.

Now let me ask you this....if I got the 4000 now without the cam, how would drivability be? The reason I ask is money is tight and the cam is not in the top 4 mods that are in line after the tranny.

a buddy of mine had a 3500, and i did a road test in that car and loved it very easy to just cruise in. Then he had me jerk it out and raise it to 4500 i think it was, the problem is now you either got to be in or out of the throttle, no part throttle or else the lock up would come in and kill the motor. See its like having a wide ratio trans good for launches but you bog the motor on the lock up

I have a 350 and 3500 stall Daily Driven. If you dont hit the highway often you will be fine. even with 2.73s it kills our gas mileage.

go with a 3200 stall on a level 1 tranny...better gas mileage, less wear, fit better together...and please add a tranny cooler to

I think my final answer will be the level 1 with the 3000. Easy on the pocket yet a better launch than stock. Now, the final question is....What cam would I go with with this particular stall?
