Depends on who builds it and what types/quality of part they use.

A crate trans is recommended since you will get a better warranty.

I agree. i had one built for about $2k thought it was good. lasted about a month & they wouldn't fix it. i spent $3k on the recent one & it workds great! 600+RWHP

$2,125 w/ 9.5 4000 stall

I have a six speed right now and Im thinkin of getting one of these soon and converting to auto . Heres the thread

its costing me bout $1500 for everything including:
5 pinion rear planetary (which controls 1-2 gear) -------$95
beast sunshell ----------------------------------------$52
3500 stall---------------------------------------------$450
TCI pro rebuild kit-------------------------------------$350
Transgo shift kit-------------------------------------- $125
the person who actually building it--------------------- $400
-------
= $1472
these are actual cost of what i paid for them.

yeah im not looking to build a race car here so i donno what would be better for me. ill probably be putting down a little over 400hp and then im not going to spray out of the hole. so i donno what i should do

well a 5 pinion rear planet will be something you will def want and also the beast sunshell they are much stronger parts. A TC is a must but just bout everything i stated above is what you will need to have a stronger and longer lasting tranny.
