I'm running a 24K cooler in conjuction with a deep (2 extra quart), finned, TCI aluminum pan. Never had a problem with my 2800 stall and still have never had a problem in 3 years of running a 3500 stall 10.5 " converter. Car sometimes sees extensive street use. ie. driving around to street meets or even driving 80 miles each way to the track.
