tried searching but couldnt really find anything. My car isnt going back on the road til may but I know that I am going to need a bigger trans cooler. i currently have a 24,000 gvw but would like to upgrade once and make sure its gonna be enough to daily drive, remember, its a nonlock up converter..... what is the biggest and best cooler I can go with....

 

You could add a second cooler on the other side of the radiator or add a rail mount cooler on the undercarriage. I wouldn't hesitate in getting a finned deep pan either. I have the TCI (holds two extra quarts).

 

Look on Summit, Jegs, or similar. Depending on mounting creativity, and whether you get one with a fan attached, you can get a truly HUGE trans cooler in the nose.

I've got a 36000 3/4" thick cooler, think it was 11x11, in my 94. It's not big enough IMHO.

 

I have used them many times.
The bone yards are full of them.
Clean it out well and bolt it in.

im already running the 24,000. it might be fine with od and lock up, but im consistently at no less than 3000 rpms unless coasting down a big hill... and thats just keeping up with traffic.

I use two B&M 24Ks. I pretty much removed all the baffles and the washer reservoir from in front of the condensor (bought and relocated the bottle), and hung both 24Ks off the top of the bumper bar, facing the condensor. I have them at a slight angle to help catch some of the airflow on it's way from the deflector, to the condensor/radiator.

My stall isn't as big as yours, but, in the summertime, in traffic, when the converter doesn't lock-up much, stop-and-go, my temps' don't get much past 180*, while it's 100*+ outside. This is in a 45 minute commute, at low speed. My brother, with the same converter, has the same set-up, minus one 24K cooler, and he will get up to 200s pretty quick, any time.

The two are overkill, this time of year, with regular daytime temperatures in the 60s, but, it's easier to block a little airflow, that it is to make it cooler. So far, after two years of this arrangement, I don't see any moisture or milky colored tranny fluid, like it's not getting warm enough to burn out moisture, so, it seems to work for me.

 

I checked jegs and summit racing and they have the b&m cooler with the built in 590 cfm fan but it doesnt say what the gvw rating is, anyone know?

I am using a 24,000 GVW w/ a 2800 & temps rarely reach & never get above 185. It's mounted in front of the condensor & radiator.

BTW, I used to live in Collegeville.

 

No real write up necessary.

I pour solvent into the condensor and shake the bejesus out of it.
Then blow it out with my air compressor.

Both ways, several times.

Then just bolt it in and hook up the lines.

Im using the original converter but already broke 4 tranys (4L60E) using just a little bit more than normal, But I really didnt find why, well, it has to be for temp, so I bought to Aless, his trany which are never open, just with deep pan oil and Trans Go Stage 3 and I already bought B&M´s Supercooler from 13,000btu´s (70268).

His SS Camaro used to run 11´s but so I decide to buy a Trany used that way but sure of work like it has to.

He are telling me that install other Supercooler like he was, but all the people told me that doesn´t necessary, BUT I REALLY dont want to broke again the trany.

Do you guys thing that is a good option?, or it is better just install a bigger Supercooler?

Like I said, Right know my Z28 98 Ls1, with 49K miles on it has no modifications, just little mods, stock converter, 3.23 rear gear (3.73 on the way), 1 Supercooler, Deep oil pan on transmission with ventilation.
