Identify part from location & description..
When the cover is pried off, it looks like there is a "clamp" w/ a bolt, that goes around a splined shaft....
WHAT is the clamp called & what is the splined shaft it is clamping to, and if you know, can you describe their functions..

I can't think of anything on a LS1 F-body that is to the left of the starter but to the right of the oil pan because the starter is wedged up against the pan with gears meshign into the transmission.
If referring ot the left side of the oil pan, there's nothing there but an oil filter that I recall.
As for the whole backside of the engine, there is the 4l60e sitting right there.
The clamp is slip type to allow the bolt to tighten the flexplate drive hub around the torque tube spline.

But I didn't know anything about this until it was pointed out to me..
All I know is that a new converter & tranny were installed & then my car ran 2/10 slower with the same stall converter, so that was my focus....
