Do you guys have to run a catch can on a 400 with a normal tranny pan. Mine keeps spiting fluid all over and dont know if there is a clearnce problem with bigger or deeper pans or if i should just get a catch can. If some one can tell me where to get this stuff. That would be great.

Where is your trans leaking from? I really have never heard of a catch can for a transmission.

Sounds like it's purging overfill from the vent tube on top?
Never heard of a tranny catch can..... but I'm sure if someone made one.... someone would buy it

This is true it can be overfilled. On th400's they are very picky and must be filled correctly.

If you have a bent blade or blades in the converter it will cause the oil to foam at WOT and expand -- allowing it to come out of the vent

also the Buick GN guys use a overflow bag -- they use a ziplock bag tied to the trans with a rubber hose as they like to overfill the 2004r

but check for the correct dip stick also as the fill line is to the gasket pan surface

I have been having the same problem. I have the madman dipstick, and a brand new FTI converter. Any other ideas rather than a overflow system- I dont want to have a bandaid for the problem. I flushed the oil cooler to see if it was clogged, and everything checked out. I really don't want to drop the entire tranny.

Any other ideas?
