Is this a bad idea.....
Personally if its in the buget I would get a converter/trans combo so that this will be at least one thing you wont have to worry about
a cooler will be needed also and go with a good brand of converter an keep the true stall speed under 3600
www.converter.cc
and a lower STR. Stacking up motor torque and more
torque multiplication is a double whammy.
In my opinion the trans tune wants going through
ASAP. GM set the base and shift pressures for the
stock setup and there can easily be a shortage
of holding power. Slip kills the frictions. Shock
kills the hard parts. Where's the factory tradeoff
have you? Nowhere good, you can bet. You can't
be slipping in gear and live long at all. You want to
slip just a hair while shifting, get it done quick but
not hammer the driveline. You would be well off
to take a compromise approach to torque mgmt
(not delete) if you go to tuning. Otherwise the
trans had better be ready for a free-for-all, that
includes eye gouging and repeated kicks to the
groin.
