what do yall think of B&M & Trans Go shift kits etc.?
my friend wants to put a shift kit & converter in his car. it is his daily driver and is just a bolt on car right now. first what kind of shift kit should he purchase in yall's opinion he's interested in the B&M and the TransGo? also should he run the street version or the strip version? what size torque converter & what would be a good brand to buy? should he also change the trans cooler and trans mount while he is doing the shift kit?
thanks
thanks

Go with the trans go hands down!!! my car is also a street car, well 95% of the time and I went with 1 washer and drilled the feed holes out per PBA suggestions. As for the converter i'd suggest Yanks SS3600 for him. A cooler is a must and the mount wouldn't be a bad idea while your down there.

agreed transgo hands down , but with a couple mods you can contact us about,As for converter I would suggest our PerformaBuilt Precision shift 4000 9.5 stall if the rear ratio is 342-410 and our 3000 to 3500 if its 273 to 355 ratio .I think he would be very happy with this combo

i talked to my buddy and he said he may wait awhile on a converter is the converter the main thing that will hurt the trans or is the shift kit not a good idea on a stock trans either?

But actually adding both these items to the tranny is going to help the longevity of it. Trans go shift kit, Yank SS3600, B&M 24000 cooler, and whatever hell poly mount he wants to put in there. Just do it all at the same time. He'll also want to get the car tuned after that for maximum driveability.

well i have a b&m in mine and a small stall.i drive mine every day and am always playing with the gas. a shift kit regardless will make the trans live longer because of the quicker shifts, and a cooler only helps out more.a stall will get your trans hotter but if you have a good enough cooler it shouldnt be a problem. but yeah if money is a little tight . b&m is the right price , but transgo is a little better..usually has more parts and more involving than the b&m kit, hence the higher price. but thats my view on it
