Default Is the tranny going out?

My friend has V6 Camaro that is having some problems. I drove it today, and it seems like it "clunks" in gear. I'll try to explain more: On the freeway, cruising fine, then it will pause, the clunk and go again. It did this at 2300, 3200, 4000 RPM. It did it when I put the shifter in 3rd too. I tried nailing the gas, and some times it was fine, others it would clunk a few times, and sometimes while downshifting.

Does this sound like a tranny going out? or maybe something else?

TIA, Aaron.

Could be a trans issue but really sounds more like something else can you give more detail of how the trans works overall

It has not thrown an SES light yet, should we scan it still? (I have to borrow A-tap)

performa - what do you mean by how the trans works overall?

Overall, it seems to work fine. Looks like it is locking up OK. Downshifts when needed, upshifts fine. Other then the jerking/banging sometimes, everything feels fine.

When it did the clunking... was it during a moderate to heavy throttle pressure event? There are many issues that come to mind.... u-joints, motor or trans mounts, rear axle, sunshell stripping out... need I go on?

Your friend needs a qualified technician to diagnose his conditiion before he suffers a significant failure.

I started thinking you guys might be right, and it's not the tranny. Thinking maybe TPS (it acts like it goes WOT then off kinda). But got a code today. P0102 Mass Air Flow Circuit Low Input

Thanks for your guys help.
