Default Installing TP4200 this weekend - need input.

Anything to watch for in particular. 4 very experienced friends are helping(doing most of it ) me - and we'll have a lift. But, any other input or 'watch for's' would be appreciated.

And - Which tranny fluid do you guys recommend? Should I go ahead and change the filter? The car has nearly 22,000 miles on it and the Vig3200 has been in the car for about 8-9000 of them. Don't think the shop that installed it changed out the filter though.

I've already got a cooler. I'm stock internal, so I will be using stock programming until I get edit in the next couple of weeks. Should I add some line pressure with HPP3? Or, just wait and see if I have chatter? Most I've talked to with a TP 4-4400 have some type of chatter and have added line pressure either through edit or HPP3.

Shift kit?

Where should I start with shift points? Or will it just be trial and error.. I'm at +2, 0, 0, with my Vig and it shifts right under the rev-limiter at 6,400 at the track. I've got 3.42's.

Other mods are lid, ported TB, MAC's, duals, pulley, full suspension(HAL's, RT TA, LCAs, SF's).

Wow, I ended up with more questions than I thought... lol

Thanks for any replies.

There is no tricks or anything else that should be different than your Vig install. My TP-4400 went in smoothly other than no tranny jack to use.. So two of use lifted it up there and stabbed it ourselves. Yes I was sore for a few days.

BTW...What does clutch chatter feel like? Is it when the conv. applies the lockup clutch or when it is already engaged? My TP4400 has been trouble free and smooth as silk for 500 miles now. Should I put 25% firmness in my HPP3?

I think you are going to like your new toy.. Good luck.

Phil

Fluid.. I've use mobil one, valoline, havoline, NAPA and castol. Can honestly say.. never saw a difference in any of them... yes, I would change the filter... I change my filter and fluid every ~5000 miles.

I would try it without tuning first. My car did great without tuning untill the dreaded TM monster appeared. When that happens.. get tuning.

Shift points are car specific. Play with it, see what it likes.

No i dont have a shift kit either. And according to Raug he reccomends that you should not, or at least he didn't. I'm going with what works as I have a 98 car myself.

BTW...Hope you have good track prep and good slicks..My BFG Dr's didnt stand a chance!!

The shift kit will have more of a chance of inducing Torque Management... I would try it without for now.

Thanks again guys. The install went great. Only took about 2 1/2 hours using a friends lift(in his garage - how great is that? )..

It feels great, just a little more loose compared to the Vig3200, driving around town. Smooth as silk on the hwy. I haven't gotten on it yet - doing the 150 mile break-in.

Will probably take it to the track sometime this week.
