Default TC recommendations

OK guys ... I've read a bunch of threads, and am not getting anywhere deciding what TC to install. I'm going with MTI heads and cam (G1) and LG Street Series headers. I have 3.15s, and it is a DD. Don't want anything too radical -- would really rather not "know" the TC is there until I step on it.

What are your suggestions?

IMO a Yank SS3600 would meet your goals nicely. You will know it's there, but with H/C, I don't think you should go smaller.

if it helps I was in your same boat about not wanting anything too intrusive.. but what happens is you put in a mild (2800) stall and you don't see a significant improvement, which leads to more labor and or $$$$, just get a 34-3600 stall, if my MultiPlate 3Disc 9.5" Vigilante can move my 5k lbs truck with authority and not be annoying, by any means, it shouldbe able to rock your F-Body... Vig's are like Sherman Tanks, if it's your DD, be careful in your selection, especially with a TCC, many of these converters perform well, but how many over time? and how many cycles does the TCC last? questions to ask when you go to buy... search fro problematic converters and stay away from those that "keep" popping up, even though "some" have acceptable explanations, that and $2 gets you on a bus..big deal... Good Luck, Tony

I agree, get a 3400-3600 stall. I'm assuming your car is a C5?

Yep ... C5 (sorry for not stating that initially). Thanks for all the replies ... seems around a 3400 is the concensus.

I've got a fairly heavily modified daily driver C5 with 3.15s. I installed a Yank SS3200 and absolutely love it. The car creeps in both Drive and Reverse at idle and goes like hell at WOT. Try to find someone with a similar setup to what you are planning on and drive the car. What may be great to one person may be terrible to another. A 3600 will definitely be "looser" than a 3200 or 3400. The SS3200 was designed for 3.15 gears according to Yank. IMHO it's a great daily driver stall.
