Default Where to get trailblazer stall?

Word around the camp fire is that the trailblazer Torque converter stalls to 2800 or so in my 5.3 with the 4l60e. Where is the cheapest place to get one? how much are they new from the dealership?

thanks

stall around 2400-2600 is normal for GM reman, as that is all you get from a dealer you must add a $100.00 core fee on the price as the core must be the same model returned.
But reman from GM are hit or miss on the quality

e-bay has that for $249 plus shipping. search torque converter ls1 and you'll see.

Everyone around here says for mostly stock engines a 2500 stall is not much improvement for all the work of R&R a tranny.

Check Yank website for an application chart. The recommended stall for your mods.

How could a converter cost you an engine? I'm not doubting you, but it doesn't make sense to me.

I have an Ebay TB converter in my 05 Silverado 5.3 and it stalls to about 2700-2800 rpm on the launch and footbrakes to 2400 rpm. It made a big difference. Our 60fts went from 2.3s to 1.9s in good air. With that said, I would opt to go with a Yank the next time around. A 3200 would be ideal IMO. Of course we always want more, but I think the Yank TT3200 would be the ticket.

I'm not sure what symptoms you are having, but I'd bet against your problem being the converter. I'd send it back to Yank if you confirm everything else is alright.

Good luck and please keep us updated!!

can't lock the clutch on a TB converter at WOT, not sure about that Yank, I don't know, locking the clutch on my Vig picked me up 2 mph & .15 in the 1/4..I **** you not.... it locks at the top of third around the 1000' and I've run it both ways, good luck..BTW you don't get the torque multiplication or shift extension from the TB converter you do from a Vig or Yank...

well my tranny overheated and i think the converter messed up after by balloning causing the crankshaft to be pushed forward eating a thrust bearing, making the crankshaft un usable along with the block. i'm just not sure i want to use the same converter itself. i have no doubt in yank products or customer service i;m just not sure i want to use this converter that i have no. but i;'m going to send back to yank and hopefully they will give me a straight answer on whats going on.

The only thing that can cause the converter to balloon is internal pressure from the transmission going into a fail safe mode caused by (the clutches slipping, stuck regulator valve, or pump slide stuck)
but it would have to balloon close to .500 to bottom out in the transmission and crank, that would need around 375 lbs of internal pressure as normal converter operating pressureis in the 85 lbs range

Check you trans and tuning before any converter is reinstalled
We would like to inspect it for you if it is sent in and get you some answers

That's along the lines I was thinking, but I don't have the background or knowledge to back it up.

Good luck!

Slipping???

I would check the tune and tranny closely. I don't see the converter having these symptoms, but I'm not a tranny/converter specialist though. Good luck man!!

I sent the converter today via ups, my name is on the side of it with my phone number. My tranny was rebuilt about a year ago, but i'm almost sure that its not the tranny or the tune but i may be wrong. hopefully you will find something wrong with it so i can sorta start narrowing down what my problems are. We'll see.....
