Default moving to th400 WSS/VSS PCM sampling question

I am trying desperately not to turn my car into a race car, and the vision of 9.9x's with all of my power options is quickly becoming a fading dream

I have everything to swap my M6 with a built RMVB/TB minus the flexplate and a VSS solution. I WANT to keep my ABS, probably TCS, and definitely my speedo and cruise control. I have limited space to work on my car so I need to have my **** together to do things right the first time.

So here it is.... many of you 350/400 guys are using a WSS... why cant it's signal be tapped for the PCM and left connected and working as a WSS? Is the input impedance of the PCM so high that it causes a level issue with the output of the sensor if it's shared? If yes, do any of you know of a working "pullup" circuit to allow this sensor to run double duty?

If there is a better or easier solution to my VSS/th400 issue please let me know. Thanks guys.

Yank used to sell a vss/gear that plugged right into the harness giving the proper mph, allowing you to keep the wss/abs in tact(providing you're running the same diameter tires front/rear-

i think you get the gear and stuff from an early 4l80e....call FLP...i bet they know. better yet, get a 4l80e and have o/d....t-brake that retains all electronic shifts and automatic valvebody

I did the M6 to th400 swap.. the abs and tcs still work ( 4 channel car fwiw ) but the speedo, and the cruise do not.

Eastside tried to get a couple cars to work with the wheel sensor, using the sux2bu method.. that doesn't work, at least not on a transam... and they have also tried to get a car with a th350 to work with the speedo pickup on the back of the tranny... the speedo did read right on that car, but it but mileage on the odo at about 6 times what you actually drove for soem strange reason.

losign the speedo and the cruise are your best bet... but look at the plus side, you'll only have xxxxx miles on your car forever now, and losing the cruise, is a little less weight, making that 9.xx pass just a little bit closer

wish it worked with my car... we tried it... didn't work at all, speedo either never moved, or it said I was going 20 when the car was just rolling... I dunno.

JL-
Did you input the correct rear gear/front tire sizes into the pcm?

yeah, I wrote down exactly what he had for #'s off the sticky... didn't work. I'm not all too concerned about it, I just cruise the speed of traffic when on the street, at the track I don't really look at the speedo, so that's not a concern.. and I like that my mileage doesn't' move much anymore too

I just got the VSS installed on the tail shaft when I bought the TH400. A couple changes to the PCM perameters and it works just like it should.

Maybe someday I'll try it again... but to be honest, I don't really care if the speedo works, I like my dash saying less then 20K... forever

Should be able to use an Op Amp to buffer the signal and be able to drive both the ABS and speedo. I haven't tried it yet though.

I have a speedo setup on my th400 which work and keep track of milage properly since I tuned for it in the ECU. My ABS and TCS also work, but for some reason my cruise control doesn't.

So how is yours setup? From a previous post I assumed that if you used a WSS and re-scaled the counts that perhaps the counting for the vehicle odometer was fixed so that mileage couldn't be tampered with. Is your odometer counting right?

Both my odometer and speedometer are reading correctly. I rescaled the counts since the tail shaft sensor in my th400 is different from my M6 setup.

I'm pretty sure if you change the Pulses per mile you can get the odometer to read right. I know mine reads correctly and I've had several different gear and tranny setups in it.

T56 4.10
T56 3.42
T56 3.50
TH400 3.50
TH400 2.75

Always had my Odometer reading correctly on all setups.
