Tranny Problem Help!!!
Heres the deal, I bought a used Yank 3500SY off a member off of this site, and i didnt take it to get check and cleaned out n all that good stuff i just installed it. When we put it on the tranny, we turned it and pushed it in till it popped 3 times, but stayed loose and there was a good size gap between the stall and the tranny. So we did the smart thing and went ahead and bolted the tranny up anyway. Now when im driving regular it shifts fine, but when i go to dog it. it over revs after 3800rpm in every gear. One tranny shop told me i had a converter off a different tranny, and another one told me my converter was messed up. I changed the fluid and the filter n it seemed like it shifted, but then immediately went back to running like crap. Any advice would be apreciated, Thanks D
did you replace a stock converter. it couldn't be the wrong converter such as and lt1 type or something because the car wouldn't even move, Based on the fact the trans Im assuming worked fine before and that you replacing a stock stall I would say its more likley your dealing with a tuning issue.

Thats what i thought it was at first, but then they told me that it wasnt. One tech. told me that it could even be my tranny, but it was running fine before i replaced the stock converter. Plus, i changed my tranny fluid about 2 months ago and it wasnt dirty or didnt have any changes. I dont want to spend my money on something thats not even wrong w. my car. What about the converter having alot of space and play? Is it suppose to be like that?
i have a 2000 camaro ss with an auto in it. when it shifts from 2nd to drive it hits the rev limiter before it shifts. we went into the computer and set the shift point down and still hits the rev limiter. someone told me it might be the tps but if it was that you would like it woud do it in every gear. and help would be grear

Well its always possible you have a mechanical issue with the trans or converter, however since the trans worked fine before and again assuming you replaced a stock converter from my experience you will need a tune to get it back shifting correctly at full throttle , But also reading back over are you saying that it neutrals at 3800 rpm at WOT in every gear and if so have you verified its full of fluid and you aren't simply emptying the pan

Well, my tranny dipstick is rigged so its hard to see how much fluid i have. But ill go ahead and change out the fluid again. How much fluid does a drained tranny take, to be exact. Thanks

Well i changed the transmission fluid n it still does the same thing. I thought it would be the tune, but everyone else runs a 3500stall or bigger w/out tuning. Has anyone had a problem like mine? At wide open throttle after it passes about 3800rpms it feels like if i were to throw it in neutral. This happens in any gear i floor it in. Any advice would help, Thanks
