Auto 2-3 shift bouncing off rev liter at WOT
Guys,
At WOT my A4 is bouncing off the rev limiter for the 2-3 shift. It is doing it all the time now. What could be the problem? It seems to be shifting fine at all other throttle positions. I checked the fluid level. It is fine. The color seems to be more of a brownish color than cherry red though. A buddy of mine suggested a problem with the valve body. Thanks
Mike

Usually thats a tuning issue. Do you have a Hypertech programmer by any chance? If not, that may be a cheap solution instead of getting a dealer to reflash the PCM.
do your free mods include ported MAF ends? If yes, try a set of stockers.
How many miles on the tranny and are they tough miles?

It's your MAF ends. I had the same problem... Tuned it out using the hpp3 by raising the shift point MPH by 4 and raising the rev limit to 6300.

I had to move my limiter to 6300 because of the ST3500. It's been there 2 months with no apparent problems. IMO you're fairly safe there.

By raising the shift point MPH you are also raising the amount of revolutions allowed for that shift. I think that its around 56 rpms for each MPH on the 2-3 shift. That would allow for ~6500 max rpms for that shift. Keeps you from hitting the limiter at least.

When I check the fluid level, it doesn't look "cherry red"; when I pull the pan it does. Last (3rd) fluid change a couple weeks ago @ ~55K the bottom of the pan was coated black. TC clutch glaze? Dunno but it still works fine. (fingers crossed)
