Default VIG 3200 installed!

Well just got my car back after the vig 3200, transgo shift kit, and trans cooler, and a good tune. All I have to say is WOW. Talk about putting you back in the seat. An amazing mod and I would recomend it to neone. One downfall of the new torque converter is its kind of a pain to cruise at ne speed under 55 mph. Also the gasmileage (although I havent calculated it yet) seems to have dropped drastically. Ne one else with this same converter hows the mpg afterwards??? By far the best mod ever though.

Yep ....converters rule. What do you mean about cruising below 55? I can cruise with no problems at 30 once the converter locks. Below that isn't too bad either.

remember though this would go against every thing you have ever been taught taking off quicker and getting above stall rpm and into lockup will actually make the fuel economy better with any stall and its hard to get used to the idea but its true

I thought that was all in my head, for some reason I think if I accelerate slower I'll save gas. When I speed up quicker though I seem to get more miles out of a tank. My question though, when you say speed up quicker, how much quicker? What RPM should we be getting to and not getting to?

i don't think there is a real answer to this question. it depends on the car and its powerband as where it will make the most power depends on where you get the best fuel economy. for example, running up to 3K in an LS1 will probably save you gas over running up to 3K in an LT1 because, while both will get you to speed in about the same amount of time, the LT1 is deeper into its powerband than the LS1 and will demand more fuel.

i'd say that you want to get it to lockup as quickly as possible, but not going WOT or anything. IMO, and when i say this, i really mean it's just my opinion, try to keep it under 3k. it seems like that's where you hit the LS1's powerband and start sucking fuel. i find that you get up to speed pretty quickly shifting in between 2500 - 3000 rpm's, so i'd say, again IMO, it's a good place to shift. driving easily and shifting at 2000 rpms actually keeps your engine at 2000 rpm's practically the whole time and it drags it out. it's like crusing at 80mph.

Thanks Choco, thats what I was looking for, I take it up to about 2500 and start to cringe, but that seems to be where I can get up to speed at a decent pace.

The Vig hits pretty hard. Got a nice tune and that just really dialed it in. Takin it to about 25-30 mph and nailing the gas will definitely throw u back harder than u can imagine. If u try it at much under 20 with street tires though it will just spin like crazy. Really brings out the fun in an auto!

Glad to see your liking the vigilante.

I paid the $750.00 for the Yank SS3600...the BEST money I have ever spent so far. ANY automatic car should buy one for there first mod.

At a 30 roll, before the stall I could probably make a sandwich before the RPMs got into the upper range. After the stall it just pulls like a freight train. I LOVE it. I use to always get ate up by Manual cars from a stop or a low roll...try me now

your 60', was that with or without the stall? And what tires did you have?
I ran 2.0 60' with stock stall and street tires all day.

np. just remember it's my opinion and it's not necessarily fact. it's just how i personally view the situation as it makes sense to me.

Driving in town (about 35-40mph) the car is usually running at just under 2k. Like i said though the converter is usually not locked up so it will drop to about 600 if u let off the gas.
