I just had my buddy compare his snap on car scanner and my trans temp gauge which is located in the test port. His scanner was reading 158 and my gauge said 150. So my gauge may be 8 degrees off but I dont think 8 degrees is going to save my trans. I just did mine as easy as possible screw the test port out and add the sender. It seems to work fine I dont care if it is 8 degrees off or so as long as I get an idea. Btw the gauge in my test port does go over 160.

Im going with the aeroforce interceptor, cuz I like the added features and is more than just a guage and it simple plugs in the diagnostic port no wiring or anything. Now on my old guage its mounted in the a/c vent and was just gonna remove it and put back the old vent. Can I just cut the wires hooked up to the old guage and toss it and leave the old sending unit in the pan,or does it have to come out and unwired? Not to sound stupid, but dont know anything about wiring,if i just cut cut the old wires off the old guage and shove them down and away its not gonna drain the battery or anything like that will it.
