th400/ get trans brake?

th400/ get trans brake? sorry for all the th400 questions but I am ordering it soon and wat to get all the corect options.
I am leaning toward their manual/auto (supposedly somehow works as both)
I have 3.73 gears, will be running a fresh bottom end(je pistons/rods/etc) mti stage 2 heads, c2 cam and tnt 100 shot. thinking about a yank 3800 converter...
should I get a trans brake?
will it only work with a full manual valvebody?
anyone do alot of street driving with a manual valvebody?

Re: th400/ get trans brake? a trans brake is a new valve body, and on the 400 it is a full manual, reverse shift pattern. if you want the best perfomace the t-brake is the only way to go. my car is set on so that when the tras brake goes off the nitrous comes on. it feels like you got rear ended by a cement truck!

Re: th400/ get trans brake? You better have a 12 bolt or 9 inch rear if your going to run a transbrake or you will destoy the 7.5 very quickly. <img border="0" alt="[Firebird]" title="" src="graemlins/formula.gif" />

Don't forget to get some sort of tranny tricker device. This will fool your pcm into thinking the transmission is still hooked up. If you don't run one, you may run into problems.

Re: th400/ get trans brake? I recently did a TH400 and I love it. I decided not to do the t-brake at first because of current traction issues. I wanted that under control first. I will get it in the next several months. They are definitely harder on the tranny and affect streetability if I recall correctly.
The manual valvebody I got used to on the street, you just have to be careful what shops you take the car to if you aren't already.
At this point I have no speedometer, we are looking for a way to make it work correctly.
What have others done about the speedo after installing a TH400?

Re: th400/ get trans brake? The company is RCI and it is a blanket that covers the transmission. It is a rule for NHRA I believe to have a scatter shield over the tranny in case it blows up into small pieces. I bought a shield, but it didn't fit right. Instead I bought a blanket to protect me from transmission fragments if the tranny breaks.
