Tranny temp guage install Qs.
Where is the easiest and most effective place to install the sending unit?
Does anyone have a write up on how to do it. I have the autometer gauge with the dual pod.
This is for a 99 A4
Thanks

What I did was order a little T type thing from jegs( its in the gauge section). It goes in the oil line of the trans and then the sendind unit screws into it. I didn't install it yet but it seems pretty easy.
Mike at Yank advised me not to install one in the trans pan since it would not give a very accurate reading of the trans temp. I would be interested to know the part # for the T-fitting from the above post. Was it hard to install?

The part # is 105-2286 its $35.99. The two ends connect to the trans line so that the oil will flow through it. Then the sending unit screws into the other whole. All thats left then is to wire it in. I have not installed it yet but it seems pretty easy.
Any one know how to install an oil pressure gauge?

I did extensive testing of my autometer guage with sending unit mounted in the pan versus what Autotap showed as the trans temp. The Autotap number was always 10 or 11 degrees higher...Always..... So that's the difference, 10 degrees, pretty easy math to do in your head.
