th400 guys what converter you using? yank plate?
I am definitely doing a yank pt 4000 0r 4200, especially after talking to mike at yank today (very nice guy, and informative!) He said with my th400 2.48 1st gear and my 3.73 rear I can get away with the pt 4000-4200. I can't wait to try it with the trans braKE! 1.4's???
what converter are you guys running?
using the yank plate to get the extra mounting locations? sounds like a good idea to me with the trans brake!

I had a JW "J" Stator 10" Converter...4500 stall, went to like 5300 off the brake...
I got a P.I. 3500 right now...I got the standard first gear in the TH400, and I got a 3.73 in the back...
Get some good tires to hook up w/the brake...
I cut a 2.1 60ft off the brake with 26x10.5x15 et streets...)

ATI TH400 here with ATI 8" 4500 convertor.
Standard first gear and 3.73's
Didn't use an adapter plate. Heard too many stories about spacing problems with the convertor and the pump. You only lose 2 bolts. No problems.

I'm not going to make a statement saying you don't need the adapter plate, but I have never used one. You end up with 5 bolts in the bellhousing.
I don't use a crank pilot adapter on the torque converter hub either...
