how much horse and torque can my stock trany hold (4L60E)? i want to have well over 400 on it but its my daily driver also so i dont want to blow the thing up because i dont have 4000 to spend on the built tranny i want. whats soemthing i can do relatively cheap to the tranny to beef it up so it can hold close to 450-500 horse? or do i even need to...any advice would be good

lol yeah ive heard mixed reviews from 370 to 500 blowing up, i guess it just depends on when it feels like going. the one tranny i want is 200 and it says it will hold 450 but i dont know if thats enough cause once i have new rear end and tranny i want to go all out and i dont know if that tranny can hold 600 with no problem you know? so the 4000 tranny is 1000horse no problem... i hate price tags
Im running the stock 60e in my car with 389whp.so far so good,it runs strong and shifts perfect..kinda hard, but perfect. But a built tranny is next on my to do list. And you can get a very strong tranny for way less then 4k.Just look at a few of the sponsers(performabuilt/FLT)...good luck
The stock trans is being pushed at the HP levels your talking and how long it last will depend alot on how hard on it you are driving .I would suggest however that you do take a look at one of ours or others here on the board .
