Someone please help!!!! Alright i am trying to install my th350 in my 99 camaro, the problem i run into is: the converter i had built from art carr was supposed to have the ls1 pilot but the pilot only measures about 1"-1 1/8" basically the same size as the regular th350 verters so therefore it wont go into the crankshaft, the 99 flexplate holes line up perferctly with the verter! What are the parts i need to correct this problem? I hear there is a spacer or adapter from summit u can order thats supposed to fix it, what is the part #?
I would say you need to speak with art carr, I know several converter setups for that require a spacer/adapter for the pilot and perhaps they forgot to include it

Ya i called them ealier and he said it had the ls1 pilot! It fits in the crank hub when its out of the tranny but when the tranny is installed it likes about 1/8" from going in to the crank! I thought maybe the curved flexplate might be the cause but that shouldnt be it!
You mean it stops moving forward towards the crank at 1/8 inch from the hub . Or do you mean you have to pull it 1/8th inch forward to get it into the hub ?

With the converter bolted up to the flexplate the pilot is about 1/8" away from the crank hub! The pilot is the correct diameter but the length seems to be to short! the pilot length itself is 1 1/16".....

Verdad Gallardo I have seen this and when i have it needed the spacer, I would get back with art carr , They should know what the problem is , Some where I think they have there wires crossed

I would have replied sooner but generally I leave the converter questions to the big converter guys , But guess they werent paying attention

Alright i talked to art carr (micheal) and we figured out my problem he forgot to put the longer pilot on, but luckily its just a weld on adapter so he is sending it to me so i can put it on! I knew it had to be something like that just glad i dont have to get a verter built! Performabuilt thanks for all ur help last night!!!
