Default Big Problem!

okay, i'm gonna explain this the best i can:

i have a 4L60E. i noticed that the car was acting funny about a week ago, but i didn't think much of it. well today as i was leaving school it messed up big time.
i turned right out of the parking lot. as soon as i straightened up i tried to accelerate, but the car didn't move. the rpm's would go up but the car was out of gear, but the shifter was definitely in drive. i kept feathering the throttle, but it didn't work. it finally caught as i turned into the gas station.
from a stop it will not shift until about 3500rpms. after i get into second gear it's like it's in "race mode" though, cuz then i can tap the gas and it wants to sit down and go. i'm not even sure if i'm starting in first gear because the feeling is similar to when you start a manual in too high of a gear... it's sluggish. when it finally shifts it jerks harshly into gear too. i haven't tried it at higher speeds yet because i'm afraid to. is this a bad torque converter? low fluids? or something else?
i will admit that i've been driving the car hard lately, mostly racing from rolls, in which i start in second gear. but i really need help. any ideas? thank you.

The VSS sensor is on the side of the transmission. Does your speedometer work okay?

Sounds like the shift solenoids are bad....I would go ahead and replace both while you have the pan off.

How easy is it to change out the solenoids?

Not at all, just need a screwdriver to poop them off......theyre located on the rear of the trans on the valve body
