The 2nd run was not quite off idle, but still, 20 mph by the time I hit 3600 rpm? Does this seem right? This thing doesn't feel like a 3600 converter. 1.801 60 is the best I've cut with this on a heads/cam/LT header car. Can Yank do anything to this converter to make it feel like my old ST3800. I have no lock up issues with this converter, but I miss the performance of the ST.
Best solution is spray it and go low 11s
Best way to launch the car at the track is to load up the converter to as much rpm as it will take before the car starts to move. Your 60' times should be in the low 1.7s or high 1.6s if you do that.

I did make a few runs brake stalling it up a little higher and the car did pick up a bit. I'm just used to launching off idle with the STs because I always ran my best that way. Or just find another ST that someone has run with no lock up problems. Amyone want to trade???
I don't think the 2nd gear test will work on my 99. I think that started in 00.

A second 2nd gear launch (logging the data that he has) is the best way to test and is more accurate than brake stall.
2x:
Your data is pretty clear that you stall less than 3600. With a power adder you'd stall right around 3600 which is where the converter is designed to be.
I agree with that Patrick that 1.7s should be doable, but a full weight car isn't going to cut 1.60s on that converter. Air up the tires if you can.

I'm trying to decide what converter I want for my new 3.23 geared Z28 I'm getting today. It will be internally stock for a short while and then will have LS6 heads. Really I want a ST3800 but I don't want ANY chance of chatter issues so that leaves me with a 258 mm converter, right? Maybe this new PYE3800 would be the ticket. I want to be able to cut AT LEAST 1.6s. With a 3500 lb raceweight and 3.23 gears. I also want the car to be nice and streetable.

How well it will do depends on where you get the 400 ft-lbs. 400 ft-lbs peaking at 3800 rpm would be pretty ideal. 400 ft-lbs peaking at 4800 rpm is too high a torque peak for this converter.

I'm looking for great drag radial 60s NA and I want a streetable converter. The SY3500/3.73 combo was great (maybe still just a little soft off the launch with those 1.71-1.75 60s) but I'll be staying with 3.23s this time.
Might have to beg Mike to build me a ST3800 with paper clutches, huh? Think he'd do that?

N/A the cam I am getting should make around 390ish RWTQ at 3600rpm. -- This is an estimation based on a car that had same cam and stock ls6 heads.
Thanks in advance and Thanks for the info.

You can get chatter free in the 9" if Mike uses an OEM style paper clutch. A couple mph added to 4th lock-up generally eliminates the chatter too if it develops in the more agressive clutches.
I think the PYE 3800 is going to be very tight on just a H&C car and will not get you 1.6s at 3500lbs. I don't think it has been run a NA car yet, so maybe you can be the guniea pig.
Until he brings the ST 3500 back, there is a hole in his product line for tight feeling, 1.6 60'cutting, converter.

CamaroSS_2002:
Boost would be perfect. Anything that gets the torque up.
390 ft-lbs at 3600 rpm would be nice. If that was through a locked converter or M6 dyno, that is a good result.
Maybe I can be the guinnea pig and prove that prediction wrong?
You know, I have what I *think* is a TT3200 that Mike built for my Suburban but I never put in. I'm going to try it out in this car just for the heck of it. Whatcha think? Low 1.8s at stock weight for a bolt-on, full weight car?
BTW, that was in very good weather with minor bolt-ons.
