Yep, it looks like its either not in all the way, or not bolted to the bellhousing.

Tried bending the tube and it's not easy by any means, couldn't bend at all. And I thought hardest part was removing T56 and putting it in the trunk by myself

You don't even have the transmission in place and your complaining about the dipstick "fit"?

I don't see how will it be any better, if that picture is taken with dipstick almost in place? I don't believe it will magically move forward 7-8 inches.
And yes, I do test fit things.

It doesn't appear to be "almost in place" in the picture.Get the trans in place and see where it ends up. I typically bend them slightly down and away from center with one hand once they are installed. You will need to use a funnel to fill the trans. Hopefully that isn't too difficult for you.

Yes, that's why I asked if it has to be that way That picture is taken with tranny bolted on and dipstick right next to the filler hole, so about 1" to the right from where it must be.
I will try to use a funnel and see if that is too difficult for me...

Great news! The 4l80 e swap is now a plug in play for factory auto cars! Alvin, from pcm for less, has made a harness to plug it into your factory harness on the auto cars. For the first time in 3 years, my stock tcm is controlling my 4l80 in my 2005 gto. My cruise control works, I have no transmission codes, and my gear range selector on the dash works. The electronics for the swap couldn't be any easier now for the automatic cars. http://www.pcmforless.com/index.php?...per&Itemid=384

Did anyone have problems with starter bendix occasionally hitting flexplate ring gear? I've got CSR Aluminium flexplates and once in 3-5 seconds bendix knocks the ring gear...
P.S. Bendix moves freely back and forth, shouldn't it have some spring?

yeah, you probably need to rebuild or replace that starter, the bendix should be firmly held in place.

On the first page someone stated this
[QUOTE]97+ 4l80e transmission. The older ones will work but may have to be modified. QUOTE]

What needs to be modded on the early units? I have an 02 ECU and I can't get my early model 4L80E to work, and it worked find with my TCI box.

I'm not sure if this has been posted before but is it advisable to just go with a 4L80E over a built 4L60E? I'm trying to consider future options.

Mainly just looking at a mild cam and heads with the normal bolt ons. Nothing crazy but I don't want to have to worry about my trans and want to put my money where it will give the best return. I'm thinking why spend 1600 bucks on a built 4760E if I can spend that or a little more on a 4L80E - I'm not educated enough on this topic to make a good decision at this time though.

For a 500hp car the 80 is overkill. But if you plan on making more power down the road then its a good choice.
