Thanks,,I was wondering if there was another solution besides the " I'm old and I don't know how to adjust the timeclock on my VCR " trick!!!!!!

Also do 9"s need an additive as the 10 bolts do??

My ABS lite is one as is my brake lite.

If you are running a posi I am thinking you need an additive of some kind.

I am running a 31 spline soft locker and use no additive.

Also the 9" will take more fluid, more than 2 bottles, less than 3.

The 9" in my Camaro has a shimmed Ford posi. It chatters like hell with only one tube of friction modifier in it (cheap dino gear lube for break in). Two works fine to minimize chatter.

Depending on the lube you use (e.g. Redline needs none usually -- I like their shockproof), I would try 1, and if the posi still chatters, try more till it stops.

I have Syntec gear lube, that is what I used in the ZT[+ additive] and have never had any issues.
You say to use dino oil for break-in?

The guy who built my 9" runs a little under 3 bottles of 85 weight carquest gear oil. He says it is cheap Valvoline. Also, use two bottles of GM posi additive. It will need about 8 ounces of the additive and the GM posi additive comes in easy to use 4 ounce bottles, he also likes it better than the Ford additive. If your posi makes noise then you do not have enough fluid. Please fill it.
Break in was simple for me, let it run on the rack for five minutes, let cool for an hour. Drive it for 5 miles, let it cool for an hour. Then your ready to rock & roll. Or you could just tow it to the dragstrip and break it in there. Of course, you should follow the instrustions of the company that built it.
Oh yeah the light, tape works good.

Thank you for the info ZRevrun, additive even in a detroit locker.
Prefer to drive it to the track, only time it has ever seen a trailer is when the timing chain broke[after 2000 runs],am closing in on 2400 runs and 128,000 Kilos.
