Default 4l60e Help Please

So my first atempt and rebuilding the tranny didn't end so hot.

I topped it off and put it into the different gears. Axle off the ground.

Doesn't move forward/revers. It does however lung forward a bit when I start it. It also doesn't rev up in park. It revs as if I was doing a brake stand.

Any thoughts of what I did or didn't do?

I did do the sk4l60e shift kit, .490 boost valve with spring, vette servo, 9 pack 3/4 clutches, Kevlar band...

Any thoughts would be great.

sounds like you have a cross leak and 2 components are applied that shouldnt be kinda like a trans brake cant turn 2 gears at once i would almost bet that the 3-4 clutches and the and reverse are applied.or 1st and third are tring to run together

So if thats a guess which may very well be, what could I have done in the valve body to do that?

Well it could indeed be a valve body issue miss placed or missing check ***** , Miss installed gaskets, but I am betting on some issue in the input drum

couls also be turbine shaft seals leaking did you size them when you installed them or did they get rolled....there is a special tool to install and size them i have it now but i used to use a pick and a hose clamp before i could afford the tools...hard to pinpoint your prob could be a few things....but thinking what i said you could pull the vb check for gasket alignment and get an ATSG manual and follow the torque sequence and torqu specs very crucial....where did you put the 3 8 mm head bolts...again get an ATSG manual

I know I put the bolts in the right order, however i know I didn't torque them. I have another valve body and gaskets so I will just pull the old one and put the other back on. I will torque them correctly and see where that leads me.

Thanks for the help guys, I really do appreciate it as its been a battle ever since I started this project.

how tight did you put them down....3/8 ratchet or a 1/4 inch ratchet the bolts only require 8 ft lbs basically grab the head of a 1/4 ratchet and use wrist power to be in the eneral area if you locked them down prolly have cross leaks

So should I loosen them up and then retorque, cause I just looked that up and found out about the 8ft lbs. Or do i need to gaskets and what not???

And what about the 3 bolts that hold the gasket and that plate are those 8ft lbs too???

yes sir 8 t lbs and tighten them in a spiral sequence radiating from the center...i would pull it off and check my gasket alignment and make sure that the right gasket is on the righ spot for instance the vb side is on the vb.....what i do is use trans gel and put both sides of the gasket on the plate and then set it on the case if on the bench or on the vb if in the car never had a problem that way...the green trans gel is some good **** it wont move with that stuff on it

I am positive about the gaskets in the right order, I looked at them and wondered what the V and C stood for I figured case side and valve body side so thats how I put them on. Even tho I suck at reading directions I am pretty good at figure out codes. Now if I can only start reading directions.

I will take a look at it tonight and will let you know what I find out. Good thing I got 3 cases to atf...

Ok so I retorqued all the bolts to 8ftlbs. Surprisingly I wasn't very far off, only 1 was a lil tighter than the rest.

Park, still revs like its in drive with the brakes on
Reverse, the tires kick back but nothing.
Neutral, Spins like mad forward
Drive, see above.

Axle is on Jack stands.

So I should probly change my valve body and plate? Or is it something internal that could cause this?

so it drives in neutral you prolly have a problem something is keeping the forward or the 3-4 applied or even the ovverun prolly internal

Ok I did the 9 pack 3/4 clutches and I had to use a screw driver and hammer to get that c-clip/ring to sit correctly, it was a real pain in the ***. The shaft did turn one direction and not the other I checked that.

Do you think I should waste my time changin the vavle body out? I was gonna look at the gaskets just to make sure I used the right one. I had 2 choices and I matched the valve body to the picture. Maybe I am that lucky one where they used the other gasket and I chose the wrong one... that would be my luck.

I am so just gonna spend the money and pay someone else to build my next one.

Yeah and I am sure that shipping won't be for Alaska now would it???

The truck that its going was 250 bucks so uh I would have a hard time putting a billy bad boy tranny like yours into my lil pickup. I really do appreciate your help tho.
