Default Trans Temp guage installed with sender in test port

I installed a autometer guage with the sending unit in the test port. Ive read the readings ican be off up to ~20 to sometimes only 10degrees. Im running 2 big hayden trans coolers since my converter isnt locking at all due to tuning issue. Driving in teh city my temps are about 165ish. On the highway its about 185-190 due to the converter slipping non stop. As soon as I get off the highway the temps drop drastically. 185-190 was after about 30 mins of driving on the highway then it wouldnt get any hotter. Either way I figure if its off 10-15 degrees I should still be safe atleast running in the city stop and go traffic with the coolers.

You should have lockup on the hwy and the trans temps should drop, I mean the numbers temp wise you have are fine but Im curious why no lockup ?

Tuning issue. I had my car at the dyno after my h/c/i swap and my map sensor was leaking bad and the car wouldnt run after like 5 min on the dyno cuz the huge vaccum leak and we couldnt do much with it after that but my tuner said things needed to be changed with the trans tune. Remember a long time ago I posted about how lockup worked for a day after the converter went in then that was it. It still comes in and out but its not there all the time

I've got my sender in the pressure port and it reads within 5 degrees of what the pcm sees. Good enough for me!

Thanks again and will do. Like I said the best part about this thing is when shes going through the gears the shifts are real crisp it just performs killer. I cant wait till I can get some tranny tuning done to it.

I mounted my sender in the cooler line coming out of the tranny and when I was having the car tuned, the PCM read right at 20* cooler than my temp gauge was reading. I figure the cooler feed line should be the hottest temps the tranny sees.

FWIW, my gauge reads ~150-160 while cruising and ~180 in traffic. This is stop-and-go on the highway with the temperature exceeding 90* outside and humid as hell.

I also installed my gauge in the test port as well. I figured it was the easiest way to do it and it will give me an idea if its getting to hot or not. I also had my buddy scan the trans temp with his snap on scanner his scanner read 158 and my gauge read about 150. I dont think 8 degrees is going to hurt much.
