Brake stall and rated stall are very different things, Only being able to brake stall to that RPM depending on your brakes etc may be normal. Nail the car suddenly in a quick snap while holding the brake and the E brake applied and see what the RPM jump to

A little really though I consider much below a 3000 stall a waste of time. There are stock converters that go near 2400 stall ,

Be sure to check for proper alignment of the exhaust, check to make sure all of the fasteners are properly tightened... torque arm, rear trans mount, bell housing bolts etc...

I would doubt that you will see much of a MPH / E.T. gain with a 2400 stall converter. That is about the same RPM as a "maxed out" stock converter will produce. We have not seen favorable results using that low of a stall.

One thing you can try though is to not brake torque it when leaving the line... just take it off idle in order to put preload into the drivetrain. In other words flash the converter off the line. I know of several guys using that tactic at the track with good results, low and high stall converters.

Hope that helps.
