Support is very important when considering the installation yourself. If installed correctly the unit must be fully dissasembled. I am sure Vince can steer you in the right direction!

Performabuilt PM'd this info to me. I'll be buying the same kit shortly when I rebuild my A4 to stand up to my new motor.
Shift kit mods
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leave the accumulators stock , But use the largest feed hole sizes, Use no spacers/ Turn the screw in the center of PCS just behind the plug 1/4 turn clockwise. Do everything else according to instructions, This will give you nice part throttle shifts and great performance WOT shifts

I'm not sure if I agree with turning the set screw in the PCS a 1/4 turn clockwise. With this kit you will be installing a larger boost valve along with a stiffer pressure regulator spring. With that being said you have already elevated the line pressure of the unit. I believe that optimal pressure is between 210-230psi. I usually try to set them on the transmission dyno at 220psi max forward pressure. I mostly have to turn the screw counter clockwise to accomplish this. Just giving you the heads up that excessive pressure can destroy your transmission. I have been working in a shop with a Dyno for almost 18 years. I use to think big pressures with large feed holes were the way to go as well. After breaking bands and blowing drums apart I decided that we needed to tone them down a bit. This has been tested and proven to work the best for me. Basically a lot less failures. Good luck, Vince.

Well to each his own I have also been at this for 22 years and havent seen to many busted drums. But each of us has a different way of getting from A-B and it seems to work. I have seen several different methods to getting the job done that works well. Which is why you wont here me say our way is nessesarily better or not as good than anothers just different. So its all good.

I'm just stating that I believe your methods are creating to much line pressure. I believe this to be hard on the parts mentioned above and also makes the pump work even harder. If you were to put a gauge on your units or Dyno every one that you shipped I believe that you would freak when you saw the pressures that you are making. Good luck, Vince.

If it's going to be your first shift kit installation try the recomendations of the kit manufacturer . Like some of you others I have been doing this for 25 years and have installed enough shift kits to know what you can get away with or that works better . If your going to put out the bucks to buy proven technology why not give it a chance first !!! John

Thats good too. Tainter had just ask me how I would set it up and how I do and I told him , Didnt actually plan on it being used in the forum publically allthough thats fine. I have installed the transgo kit exactly according to instructions myself when I have done that I use the smaller feed hole sizes because the part throttle shifts tend to be a little more agressive than I care for with the larger ones.
