Blown corvette servo in new trans?
02 Silvy with an 06 4L60E. The trans has about 15,000 miles on it and a vette servo.
Today the truck gets up to about 4,000rpm and as it shifts into 2nd I get a huge metallic "pang" and I lifted off the gas immediately. I coast down the hill and pull into the parking lot and as I'm coasting I'm listening for anything. I hear no metal grinding, the engine is running still.
I get out and look around, still seeing and hearing nothing. Hop back in the truck, put her in go and get nothing. Pop it in third and the truck just shudders.
What I have figured out. I can get the truck going in 1st up to 20mph. Slide it into 2nd, which feels like it's slipping, and get to 25 to go in 3rd. After that, get it up to about 50 and then go into 4th and the truck goes just fine. It will not fully downshift into a passing gear from 4th but instead just revs.
I still have the original trans, which as it turns out, has nothing wrong with it in the first place.
I also have another corvette servo on hand as well.
So what could my problem be? Or should I get my old trans back in the truck and forget about it?
Thanks for the help in advance.
Mike
If the band had popped, I wouldn't get 2nd or 4th at all, correct?
P, R, 1 and 3 work normally. 2 and 4 require some persuasion to work.
Do you think it'd be better to put the original trans back in the truck then?
Or is this maybe something that can be fixed without the trans coming out?
If I was closer the
sounds GOOD lol Butif you get it out and take it apart give me a call we will see if we can figure it out and you can ship me some beers lol

the trans came out of an 06 Silverado and the only thing done to it was the vette servo. I had actually called you for advice a few months back when I was trying to figure out what to do with it. Not sure if I ever said thanks for the advice then, but thank you.
I love German beer as well although I would require a plane ticket to help you drink it and oh yeah fix the trans! Now to see of anyone around here has time to lend a hand. I should be able to do it alone but could really use the extra hands.
EDIT: The bands can't be replaced with the trans in the truck, can they?
And on the off topic, I'll see what I can do about the beers for you and performabuilt.
The top bolts on the trans are left to be loosened, then drop the trans cross member and that should be about it. I sure hope the ATV/Motorcycle jack helps and I think it will be fairly stable.
So I'm just taking a break to get a PB&J sammich and a glass of water then it's back outside.
I got distracted for about an hour or so trying to fix something else. Then I wanted to take a break, walk over to the clubhouse, past the gym to catch a glimpse of any hotties working out (which there are none), grabbed some Whoppers and a Mt Dew and no it's back out to the garage.
Should be done around midnight. I hope.
