Default th350 stall converter

issue:: the part of the stall that fits into the flywheel is too long. the stock verter is around 1\2" shorter than the one i have. i beleive its around a 3800 and is green, dont know the type, it came with the car as a project the previous ower could not complete. the piece is threaded so i believe it is removable, however i cannot find this part anywhere online. anyone point me in the right direction? or can i just put washers inbetween the flexplate and verter? thanks

finally found the original owners contact info, gave him a call and the verter was out of a th400 mated to a ls1. any one know the name of this peice? possibly a crank adapter? been searching around and cant find a stall that has a interchangable nose.

Are you trying to bolt that convertor to a standard sbc? If you are, and it's made for an LS1, you need a new convertor. The convertor snout for an LS engine is around .400 longer than a standard sbc.

I don't guess I have ever seen one that unscrews. Can you post a picture of it?

What are you putting this in? What trans? what engine? what flexplate?

I would put the converter in the trans and bolt it to the engine with no flexplate.
See if the converter fits right, too tight, or moves forward and backward too much.
If it fits right see if it has a th350/400 bolt pattern or an LS bolt pattern.
My guess is that it has an LS bolt pattern and needs a 2000? to 2002 flexplate-one thats not flat.

You need to use a regular gen 1 sbc flexplate.
I guess if the snout is too long I'd cut it off square, or find a machine shop that can cut the right amount off. It needs to be cut on the converter side. You need to find a stock converter to get an exact measurement.

Just looking through an old Sonnax catalog. This is a Sonnax converter with a forged front cover and the pilot is adjustable for different motor plate thickness.
