Default Tight 3K Converter?

I currently have a 3.5K Fuddle Performance converter. It is a bit loose for my daily driving and weight of the GTO.

I was wondering who offered a tight converter for DD applications around a 3K stall.

Currently pushing about 400rwhp.

Thanks.

You might call Fuddle an ask those guys what they would charge to change the stall... it is not hard at all for them to do. it would mean a little down time for the car, but it would be the route I would go.

I have a local performance converter shop change stall speeds all the time... we go up on some and down on others... it's what they do.

If you are looking to replace it outright and don't want dwontime, then I would consider a Vigilante, somewhere in the 2.8k or 3.0k oughta do the trick.

Hope that helps.

Our converters are generally considered to be very tight but right on in the stall even at higher stall speeds many of our customers are amazed at the light throttle feel. This would be a quick and reasonable economic solution

would it have made a difference if fuddle would have initially considered the weight of the car? mine is also kinda loose.

Certainly! The weight of the car and the power generated by the engine will affect the stall speed considerably.

But keep in mind those guys know the weight of these cars.. more than likely the "looseness" is related to the camshaft / gear in my opinion.

As allready answered the weight is significant of course they should know the average weight of most cars. HP, Low end torque also come into play along with the rear ratio and in the case of large vehicles with big tires and wheels even that can be a major factor.

not to mention the bigger diameter of the converter itself... .all important info.

Fuddle is changing mine up a bit, I'd call them back and see what they say.

I'd change gears if it felt too loose. Especially if you don't do the tranny work yourself. It would be more economical.

Trying to email fuddle because I am in Baghdad right now. So far no luck on a response back.

Ideally I am looking for a swap of my current one so I can save some money. I am just looking to get something tighter since I DD and only go to the track once a month in the summer.

We responded to you the next day, so I do want to address your upsetness at us taking to long to respond. The next day does not seem like an excessive amount of time to us. As we said, several other factors can contribute to the loose feeling of a converter, i.e. weight of the GTO, gears, and more often than not, companies misrepresent their stall speed because several other companies use their own rating system, rather than GM's as we do. This often results in converters "feeling" tighter because they are actually a lower stall.

With your driving style, you can go lower to a 3000, which we already said we would work with you on the Iraq upgrade issue instead of making you send it back now, as the policy is. It will be low for your cam, but it will be tighter for daily driving.

i agree with this because i can footbrake to 3400 without the car moving, and it appears the car will flash to around 3400 from a dead stop. people on this board with other brands tend to have different results.
