Default 4l80e 00 vs 04 and what to keep from 4l60e

i just bough a 4l80e from a 04 pickup truck with 31k and plan on putting it in my 2000 trans am. i already have a 6.0 iron block bone stock out of an 2000 pickup in my car and i wounder if theirs any difference form the 2000 to 2004 4l80e. also do i need to keep anything off my 4l60e for the different trans like speed sensor or anything.
i already bought a lokar dipstick and yank crossmember although the crossmember has not came yet!

You should be just fine as far as mating the motor and trans. I would keep the shifter linkage that bolts to the trans. You will probably need to get the shifter shaft changed to the shorter style. I'm pretty sure that the one you have is the long style.

Sorry I forgot to answer your question on the 2000-2004 4l80e. There have been some changes on the internals. It really will not make a difference on the install. The changes were in the front pump and the case. The case has been changed where the pump bolts up and must be used with the latest style pump. If you have a mismatch you will have no cooler flow and will be blowing the cooler oil pressure into the case. Not a good thing. If you ever need to have it serviced make sure the builder is aware of it.

thanks for the info. will the difference in the pump cause the converter to seat lower or higher as im trying to use the stock converter and flex plate that came with the trans and 6.0. also do you guys sell shift kits for the 80e. In the future i was going to put a trans brake in, should i hold off on the shift kit.

I can sell you the trans brake kit and also the shift kit. It is kinda one or the other though. As far as the change in the pump you will be just fine. The changes as I stated above are all internal and will not effect the install. Vince
