Why do people wanna go from a M6 To an A4
I don't understand why anyone would go from an M6 to an A4. I wana do to exact opposite because I miss shifting gears so bad, and I have never owned an Automatic car till this one. Feels out of place. If any one wants to goto an A4 from a M6 hit me up. maybe we can work something out because i have a Perfect 4L60e. and/or enlighten me on why people swap stick for autos

True but I will give u my opinion: I had 3 autos They were nice abd powerful. They use more gas than M6. Now I have a M6 and wished I would have gotten it 5 yrs ago. Better gas mileage and if you can drive it can keep up with an auto off the line. There is also a diffrent sound thru the exhaust from an auto to m6. I prefer a Manual anytime now. They also dyno higher and have a better MPH.

I went M6>A4 because of a few reasons. Add them all up and it made perfect sense.
- I had repeated issues with my M6. No matter what was changed, it still didn't want to shift smoothly at high RPM. Replaced clutch, hydraulics, and tranny internals. Nothing helped.
- My wife always used the car against me since she couldn't drive it as an M6.
- I wanted faster ETs.
- Even with me being a bodybuilder, my leg got worn out after a while. There's no LS1 clutch that grabs good while still being easy to push. Sure it sounds pussified, but add it to the rest, and it's a factor.
- I got a great deal on a fresh 4L80e.
- I was sick of having a dyno queen instead of a track king.

your not goin to beat the torque multiplication of a high stalled auto. period. all you can do, at best, is get 100% of your power to the ground. IF you can do that, then your et's will be good, but still not as good as exact same car w/a4 and the right stall convertor. yes, they mph and dyno higher, but who cares about that? neither one will win you a drag race. now, street racing is a different story sinc most of that is from a roll. in my case, I had a similar case as the other guy. my wife wanted a car to drive too, so it was sell the car for an auto, or MAKE it an auto. easy choice for me.
now, Im looking into doin this for my dads 02 LS1 now, cause simply put, he cant drive a stick at the track. with practice Im positive he could pick it up, but we only race the car a couple times a year so aint gonna happen. and, he already wiped out one spec stage 3 in about 3K miles.
another reason is, they are much harder on the driveline if you DO drive it good. requiring a 9" at much lower power levels then an auto can get away with.
just my .02

You wont regret going 4L60E or TH400 or Th350 whatever you do. A 6 speed car isnt going to have a chance in hell against a auto car that has the right converter, stickies on the rear and a little suspension if any. I'll tell ya one thing I really dont want to be spraying a car with a manual and miss a gear at high rpm's. Another thing with autos theres room for mistake if you mess up on a launch its not the end of the world. When I wais cam only I was running with 6 speed cars from rolls on the highway from 40-130-140ish no problem at all. Eventually they pull away but is a heads/cam all motor car going to trap 140 in the 1320? NO

I swapped from an M6 to a stock A4 with stock converter because I was tired of shifting and tired of destroying clutches trying to launch at the track. With the stock A4 I was very happy(until it broke). I now have a built A4 with a Yank SS 3600, and I will NEVER go back to an M6. Torque multiplication wins hands down, and even at part throttle in second gear this thing pulls harder than my M6 ever did in second.

The power loss doesn't matter. The good thing is that yeah you get some drivetrain loss, but you can absolute run the crap out of the car because you have a tranny that won't die (within reason). So you lose maybe 20hp more than if you had a 4L60... SO??? Up the shot, spin it higher, and go! LOL!
As for dyno loss, it's a stalled auto and dyno numbers don't matter anyway, but especially with a stalled auto. We're not driving DSMs here. Dyno numbers sound pretty, but I've watched a 300hp LT1 smoke LS1 cars all year because it dead hooks and has the right stall.
