Driving car to day and 2nd started to slip then it went out trans has 1000 miles on it maybe. Revs out in 1st then shift to 3rd hard let of the gas and hit lightly goes into third Any suggestions?

yes every gear but 2nd car has cam untunned with stock conveter

 

sounds to me that the 2nd servo seal is bad.

Cracked it open today and the fluid smells like rubing alchol ? I know thats not normail everything looks the same though nothing looks broken or damaged Im not sure of the pistion you are talking bout? is it the acumulator? or in the valve body? or in the trans?

 

the servo is on the side of the transmission it has a circular cover on it reatined by a ring

 

got ya I have another one sittin on the ground that I poped open just to see what it was like I guess ill open it on the car

 

allright took that out and it seems fine rings seem good? do you think it has anything to do with the valve body? does 2nd gear have clutches?

 

Take and remove the 1-2 accumulator housing. This is located in the rear of the oil pan area. It will require that you remove the three 10mm headed bolts. Make sure that you do not have a broken spring or an accumulator piston. Hope fully this will be what is wrong. There is a chance that you have a band that is hurt and slipping in second, but will still hold in 4th do to there being less of a load in 4th gear.

 

1-2 accumulator has already been pulled nothing wrong with it either its got 2 springs and both are fine the piston is good to

 

If you still have the pan off take a peak to see if you can see the condition of the drum where the band rides. If it looks burnt, blue or scored, I'm afraid that you have a band that has failed.

Allright well i can see the band and it is loose and I can move it with my finger I know thats not right.

 

Can you describe how loose?

Does it look like it is "hanging" loose from the drum?

Being able to move it a bit does not necessarily mean it is bad, loose maybe but not necessarily bad.

Its basicly hanging in there I can move it back and forth about a 3/4 of an inch is that to loose and its the band closes to the motor and I thought they were suppose to have somthing on them like brake shoes it seams like its siting on the drum metal to metal

 

If thats the case then it appears as though your band has failed. Is the drum scored... like a brake rotoe would be if the pads wore too thin?

it has scratches all over it but there not deep wow three sponsers in here to help me I appricate it guys If its a seriuos problem and I got to pull the trany then im gonna do a t56 swap
