just feels like the transmission is slipping. it started out just doing it like once a week or so. but now its getting worse about every time i drive the car. the car is an a4 and when i shift it manually the slipping is a lot more noticeable.

Sounds like your clutch packs are slipping. Probably time for a rebuild.
