You can't use a 99 Sierra 4L60e in a 98 LS1. Wish I would have know this 8 hours ago...

Yes it does, but the shifter ***. is different, the tail shaft housing is to short and the bell housing is deeper

Im confused ? were they both from ls1 style engines 98 up 5.7, 4.8, 5.3, 6.0

I ask him that in private he said they were both 2wd. But it does sound like hes comparing the early bolt on bell to the later ls1 type. Except for the out put shaft part.

Trucks didn't get LS type engine until the middle of '99 build date.
So the question is whether or not the donor truck has an LSX engine or gen1. Everything else can be swapped out as far as the shift linkage, tailhousing, etc.

Thats what I was thinking that it had the early bolt on bell type but he also said it was a 5.3 truck.

I do not know what motor it came off of. Its late and I will have to call the guy I bought it off of tomorrow.

OK you said 5.3 in your PM check on that and let us know. You probably got ahold of earler bolt on bell type it has a different input shaft/pump stator and bellhousing than the LS1 type in the 98 camaro.

Oh, and I just remembered that the Sierra tranny does not have a torque arm mount.

you really need one.

I'm thinking he's changing a transmission out and has the old one handy. But yet we're all playing the guessing game here.

Yes they are we get maybe one good one in 100 cores.

True as that may be, in the second post here he says what all the differences are. That leads me to believe he has the two sitting there comparing them.
