10 PSI of boost killed my tranny within days. 10 psi was over 500 rwhp.

Mine went good until about 95,000 miles with headers, catback, and gears, with a tune! Then it started refusing to shift into 4th at wot and the regular shift from 3rd to 4th was pretty slow. Now i have a race built 4l60e and a custom built 3000 stall! Hopefully this one will last another 95,000 miles. Knock on wood!

I have a 101,xxx on mine, and it is starting to go. I am having problems with lazy shifts and Converter not locking up. I just got it tuned too. So it kinda sucks. lol

I had mine rebuilt when I bought my car last year....160,000 miles. It wasn't dead, but it was slow and did some funky shifting at times.

70,000 miles and it finally died about a month ago. That's after about 200-300 track passes with 1.65-1.75 60's. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

Personally I would have gone the other route and gotten the tranny first. The transmission takes stress every time you go WOT. The rearend only takes stress on launches where you dead hook or during wheelhop. And many A4 guys have gone into the 10's on the 10 bolt by simply preloading the drivetrain before every launch.

Behind the kind of power you have that transmission won't last long. I would start saving now for a built 4L60E and I would seriously lay off racing/extended WOT runs until you have enough cash saved.

Good luck.

112k miles. Im not a tranny guy, but it made a terrible grinding noise. Then one night I got on it and "POOP!!!" and no forward gears. Drove home in reverse.

OMG. That had to suck. When mine went it was during a launch at the track (35 miles away from my house). I lost D and OD but 1 and 2 worked.

So I drove thirty miles of expressway doing 50 mph in second gear and I thought that was bad. In reverse I probably would have been arrested for suspicion of drunk driving

I think I may have the record... 26k with a stock car, and it had NEVER been raced. My wife and I were going to the store when after a stoplight it would not shift into 3rd. I took it to GM (it was still under warranty) the mechanic said the 3-4 bands and clutches were bad.

after about 20 WOT 3-4 shifts with torque management removed, it will die.

LOL. That could happen with TM still in place. 4th gear is a luxury OD and the transmission was never intended to reach it under WOT. TM or no TM the 4L60E transmission was not designed to handle too many 3-4 WOT shifts. I've heard of people frying the 4L60E after one OD WOT shift with TM still active.

Besides the 3-4 shift happens at 142 MPH with 3.23 gears and with 2.73's you'd hit the speed governor before you could hit 4th. Anyone who consistently reaches 4th gear at WOT needs to have thier license suspended and sanity checked.

128K miles on my stock 4L60E, 4000T.C. ran in it for probably 15K miles, and half that time without a tranny cooler. Runnin just fine w/ no problems bustin off 11's at the track consistently and 1.6x's with occasional 1.5x 60ft times. Full bolt on car, runnin slicks/skinnies at the track, 315's on the street,...MS3 cam. Explain that!!! hahaha im knockin on wood right now by the way, but i've got plenty of miles & plenty of mods

I had to choose between a trans and rear since the new 408 set me back some and i decided on the rear since i knows it a verified weak point now I am kinda worried about the trans. My car is a 98 formula with 487 hp and 462 tq and will hopfully be at least a low 11 maybe better depending on the day

thanks
Which time? I'm on my 6th rebuild from many different builders (All within 10k). First, it went 100% stock. The 4L60E's plain out suck!!!
